Summer 2010 - Advanced Music Theatre

 


 
Private Voice Instruction

$70 per hour
$40 per 1/2 hour
Lisa Matsko Hamilton, instructor

Study privately with Lisa Matsko Hamilton, one of the premiere South Bay voice instructors. Music theatre, pop, and classical styles. Select songs from our extensive music library. New technology!  All warm-ups and accompaniments are now recorded directly onto CD! Current students are performing on Broadway and in national tours of shows such as Hairspray, Happy Days, Mary Poppins, 13, Grease, Big River, Little Women, Ragtime, The Lion King, 42nd Street, Rent, and Phantom of the Opera. Other students have graduated from such prestigious arts programs as those at UCLA, University of Michigan, Boston Conservatory, NYU, Julliard, AMDA , USC, Point Park College, Emerson College, Pace University, UCI, Yale and Northwestern. Lisa Matsko Hamilton received her MFA in Music Theatre at the University of California, Irvine, and has also studied at the University of Redlands and Syracuse University.

MUSIC THEATRE MASTER CLASS SERIES
DANNY GURWIN
and LISA MATSKO HAMILTON, instructors

A Broadway veteran for the last 10 years, learn from one of New York’s best! With shows such as Little Women, Urinetown, The Full Monty, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Kismet, A Little Night Music, Forbidden Broadway, A New Brain, and The Thing About Men to name a few, Danny Gurwin has hands-on experience working with some of the New York Theatre’s most accomplished directors, choreographers, designers, and actors. Students will work every session – you bring the material to start and we will build your course!

Ages: High school and up.

MUSIC THEATRE SCENE STUDY

What's the next step after honing your audition skills? Scene study! This music theatre scene study class helps you put the songs in the context of the play. Singing AND acting? Sure you can! (Limited enrollment.)

 

Summer Music Theatre Workshops

ADVANCED MUSIC THEATRE AUDITION WORKSHOP
GERARD BABB and LISA MATSKO HAMILTON, instructors

Tuesdays, June 15 – Aug. 3, 7:00 – 10:00 pm, $375
Nine sessions focusing on audition and cabaret material for the advanced performer. Students bring in songs-in-progress to work one-on-one with star quality guest instructors in several of the class sessions.
Prerequisite: Music Theatre Audition Workshop or by audition


MUSIC THEATRE AUDITION WORKSHOP
Saturdays, June 26 – July 31, 1:15 – 3:45 pm or
Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 29 – Aug. 5, 3:00 – 4:30 pm
Either six-week class, $295
Challenging and fun, these workshops are performance based and include singing, dancing and acting. Each time you take the class, you build your audition repertoire and increase your
comfort level at auditions. Great for new-comers and a good brush-up for experienced pros.

*All three summer Music Theatre workshops come together for a mock-audition showcase on Saturday, August 7

Based on the century-old teachings of Joseph Pilates, this artful discipline can improve your posture and increase flexibility and stamina. The elegant and flowing movements of Pilates isolate core muscles, developing strength, mobility, fluidity and balance. Pilates is well suited for people of all ages and fitness levels.

Acting
 

PRIVATE ACTING INSTRUCTION with GERARD BABB

Study privately with a professionally trained acting coach (MFA, acting, UC Irvine). Learn the basic techniques of making your acting seem spontaneous and natural.
